Music

The music is the heartbeat of Capoeira and is essential for a roda de Capoeira and the jogo. The classical instruments of Capoeira are Berimbau (the main instrument), Pandeiro (similar to a tambourine), Atabaque (a big drum), Agogo (similar to a bell) and Reco-Reco (cucumber like instrument). Together these instruments form the Bateria (orchestra) of the roda. Additionally, songs are chanted by the Capoeiristas. The number of instruments and arrangement can vary between Capoeira style and school.
